Scottish Library Zine Survey
Below we have a message from Zine maker and MSC student Fi Johnston, who is looking to collate responses from Librarians working in Scotland to create a zine resource to support librarians working with young people to support their mental health. Please read below and fill out the short survey if you fit the description!
Additionally, we are hosting a Zine Workshop at the Glasgow Zine Library, and have invited Fi to share an overview of her research if you’re interested in hearing more. Spaces for this zine creation workshop are limited, so book quickly! Click here to book!
Hi!
My name is Fi Johnston and I am in my final year of my part-time MSC Information and Library Studies at Robert Gordon University aka the Practical Research Project year.
If you are a librarian or library worker working in Scotland, who works with young people aged 11-18 (always, occasionally or anything in between), I would greatly appreciate a little of your valuable time to fill out a short survey. It shouldn’t take any more than fifteen minutes, I promise!
For my project/dissertation I am investigating the potential positive impact of zines and zinemaking on young people’s mental health. I will then be creating online zinemaking resources for Scottish librarians working with young people aged 11-18. I’m so excited to get started on this process and hopefully be a small part of helping to bring the benefits and unmitigated joy of zinemaking to more Scottish libraries.
You do not need to know anything about zines to fill out the survey – there’s a very brief explanation of what a zine actually is as part of it. The survey gauges current knowledge and attitudes around zines and zinemaking, and the results will help feed into the design process of the resources, helping me to ensure they are as useful as possible.
At the end of the survey you also have the opportunity to express interest in hearing more about the project, getting involved or simply directly receiving the final resources at the end of the project.
Click here to access the link and again, thank you for your time/consideration. If you know anywhere else that might be interested in this subject, I would love to get a decent breadth and diversity of response, so please do let me know! Click here to email Fi directly.
