Scottish Book Trust Learning Professional Award winner announced
Category: News
A school librarian, Susan Morton, has won the inaugural Scottish Book Trust Learning Professional of the Year Award. The award was presented at the National Library of Scotland on 31st May to Susan for her work at Inverclyde Academy.
The shortlist for the award was strong and Susan won the award thanks to her fantastic work in turning around a library that had been closed for a number of years in a school that has many pupils from areas that are in the Social Index of Multiple Deprivation Categories 1 and 2.
Susan has created a strong reading and writing culture in the school and encouraged many reluctant readers. She has transformed the library space, improved access times, brought in local authors, quadrupled stock, delivered information literacy sessions and much, much more.
