Outlining how vital the library services are to the communities they serve, and how these proposals will threaten digital literacy rates, the reduction of isolation, and those using drop in services such as speech and language therapy amongst others.

Published Feb 13th 2024. Sean McNamara, head of CILIP Scotland has written to Inverclyde Council after their public consultation to reduce library opening hours by 25% went live. Urging the council to take evidence of the value of public libraries from the CILIPS and Scottish Book Trust websites into consideration, with this research concluding that there can be "no substitute" for these spaces.
