Category: News
A motion has been lodged in the Scottish Parliament by Orkney Islands MSP Liam McArthur asking that the Parliament “congratulates the children’s librarian, Sally Walker, from Orkney, who has been named Scotland’s Library and Information Professional of the Year; notes that the award, presented by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals in Scotland (CILIPS), celebrates the work of people involved in Scotland’s library and information services; recognises that the judges were particularly impressed by Sally’s commitment to her profession, skills in service development and innovation, her sector engagement and the positive impact that she has on her community through her work with children and schools; acknowledges specifically her work promoting initiatives such as Coding Club and Minecraft, which have proved to be hugely popular; notes that this is the latest recognition of the excellent work done by those involved with Orkney’s award-winning Library and Archive; thanks Sally for her dedicated work, and wishes her and her colleagues all the best for the future.”
The motion was supported by fellow MSPs Kenneth Gibson, Alison Johnstone, Edward Mountain, Gordon Lindhurst, Jamie Halcro Johnston, Ash Denham, Donald Cameron and Tavish Scott.
These congratulations follow on from Sally receiving excellent media coverage from STV News and in the Aberdeen Press and Journal.
