CILIPS supports SLIC’s #KeepTheHeid and Read campaign
The Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) has today launched their Scotland-wide reading initiative: #KeepTheHeid and Read!
Did you know that research shows reading for six minutes a day can reduce stress by an incredible 68 per cent? The aim of this national reading moment is to inspire and encourage people of all ages and abilities to read every day to boost their mental health and wellbeing – starting with a pledge to read for just six minutes on Wednesday 11 May, at the heart of Mental Health Week 2022 (9-15 May).
The CILIP Scotland team have already pledged their six minutes, so be sure to join us in celebrating the profoundly positive power of reading and why #LibrariesAreEssential to mental wellbeing. An online totalizer, capturing the number of reading minutes pledged, is available at www.keeptheheid.scot.
#KeepTheHeid is a partnership with the Mental Health Foundation and the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) and supported by Baillie Gifford.
