Community Editor Bursary, Higher Education Library Technology
Ken Chad Consulting and PTFS Europe have collaborated to offer a bursary of £1,000 p.a to secure the help of a community editor for Higher Education Library Technology (HELibTech).
HELibTech’s origins go back to 2008 as a major sector project: The JISC & SCONUL Library Management Systems Study. Setting up the HELibTech website enabled the work of that project to be kept up to date and expanded. The site uses the open source DokuWiki software.
The aim of HELibTech is to provide a starting point for anyone interested in library technology in Higher Education. The focus is UK but most of the issues will be relevant elsewhere. HELibTech has developed into a valuable, free community resource licensed under the most liberal creative commons license to facilitate the reuse of content and data. Anybody can add or edit the content.
Ken Chad Consulting set up the site and Ken Chad took on the role of ‘wikimaster’ to encourage contributions, help contributors and protect the site from any malicious activity. The HELibTech community editor will take over most of those activities by enabling the best use of the DokuWiki platform as well as reviewing and adding content. This is a great opportunity for someone with technical aptitude, enthusiasm and content writing skills to make a contribution to this valuable community resource and enhance their professional standing.
In addition to the funded bursary, CILIP will also provide a Bursary to the appointed editor to attend the upcoming Libraries Rewired conference which is to take place on Friday 10th November at CodeNode in London.
