An End of Term Gift to all School Librarians
Category: Blog, Branches and Groups, Professional Development, SLG Scotland
All over Scotland schools are finishing up for summer, and we’d like to say a massive well done to librarians across the land who shared stories and resources across their school communities in a difficult year.
To help school librarians get a jump on next term – the best end of term gift we could think of – the School Libraries Group ran an online event in partnership with Scottish Book Trust on Wednesday 15 June.
We were fortunate to be joined by Rachael Laburn and Catherine Wilson Garry, who shared exclusives on the national roll-out of Reading Schools accreditation, making the most of author visits, and the teen-led revamping of the Scottish Teenage Book Prize.
Highlights included:
- Hearing how completing Reading Schools is like doing the Hokey Cokey
- The three key things to focus on when applying for SBT funding
- And a sneak peak of authors appearing as part of Authors Live.
We had almost eighty people sign up for the session but if you missed it (or if you want to recap all the ideas you didn’t get a chance to scribble down), the good news is that you can catch up here or on the CILIPS YouTube channel. We hope you enjoy this one-stop shop of different resources, activities and ideas to get you ahead of the game for going back to school in August.
Still not convinced? We’ll leave our attendees with the last word:
“A fantastic webinar! Learning, being inspired and motivated.”
“An excellent event from SLG Scotland. Lots of tips!”
