Dekko Comics: Developing Video Courses for School Libraries

Dyslexia and Autism friendly educational comic creators Dekko Comics have a special opportunity on offer for school librarians as they develop their first Dekko Video Courses, which teach the same content and techniques as the popular Dekko Workshops but more in-depth and in a format that can be learned at the learner’s own pace. The video courses will teach how to apply Rossie Stone’s techniques (of converting information into comics and other forms of entertainment) to important topics such as Punctuation & Grammar, Times Tables, Creative Study Skills, Confidence in Neurodiversity, Mental Health and more; a mix of curricular, self-development and pupil-improvement subjects. Their main age range will be focused on the Transition Years (P6-S2) but they are being designed to be flexible enough to be enjoyed by younger and older too – just like the workshops.

The video courses will work as an online library where schools or support-organisations get a general login to access the material throughout the institution, and teachers can either teach the material to a whole classroom, or to targeted pupils, or give it to pupils to learn at their own pace on their Chromebooks. Dekko intend to launch these courses on 28th April with 5 video courses (each course being 4-6 videos in total, plus extra material) and intend to keep adding more throughout the year.
