Outreach Services to GPs
This case study is part of Health Librarians Add Value, a campaign run jointly by NHS Education for Scotland (NES) and CILIPS. It has been provided by Suzy Cuthbert, Assistant Librarian at NHS Borders. Read other case studies here.
Outline of the service
NHS Borders Library Service set up a new outreach service for GPs, providing them with current awareness bulletins, newsletters, updates on COVID-19, reading suggestions, and book lists for patients.
Impact
The below quotes from service users and key stakeholders show how this new service benefits healthcare workers at NHS Borders:
“I always read through the list and will read 3-4 of the articles. It is useful to see the titles of articles that I don’t read – even to know they’re out there for future reference is helpful so thanks for your efforts!”
“Thank you for these updates. They are a positive contribution to primary care and I appreciate them.”
“I asked our local librarians to search for literature relevant to primary care on the potential complications of Covid 19. […] Thank you very much. I would be delighted if you could continue to keep us updated as knowledge emerges. I’ve already found this useful.”
