Metadata and Discovery Group in Scotland AGM – 1st November 2024 (Edinburgh) – register for this in person, free event! The post-AGM talk promises to be an absolute (sound) blast, and I do hope that many of you can come along. After the talk, there is the opportunity to have a guided tour of the exhibition Panoramas: the World in 360° which covers the very first VR experiences over 200 years ago, through the medium of painted landscapes.
The Metadata and Discovery Group in Scotland warmly invites you to its Annual General Meeting, which will take place in person at the Digital Scholarship Centre, Main Library, University of Edinburgh, George Square (EH8 9LJ) on the 1st November at 1.30pm.

Post AGM Seminar
At this year’s AGM we are delighted to host a talk entitled: Soundfields, NLS metadata for sound
This will be given by the National Library of Scotland’s own Charlie McCann, speaking on metadata for sound collections and the National Sound Archive. Charlie McCann is the Sound Curator at the National Library of Scotland, responsible for the non-print music and sound collections held by the Library. Prior to taking up this role, he was a senior archivist at BBC Scotland, working in various newsrooms, archives since 2006. He has experience in cataloguing, project management, digitisation, technology development and inclusion initiatives.
After the AGM and the post AGM seminar, there is the opportunity to have a guided tour of the exhibition: Panoramas: the World in 360°.
This will be a fantastic opportunity to see the exhibition before it closes the day after the AGM. Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be available.
